Scotland's Industrial Potteries

One of my major research interests is Scotland’s industrial potteries. From the mid 18th century to the late 1980’s Scotland produced vast amounts of ceramics for both domestic and international markets and during the 19th Century, Scottish potteries were rivals to the Staffordshire potteries.

The fact that this aspect of Scotland’s cultural heritage is little known is of interest to me and through my academic and practical practice I hope to reconnect the story of Scotland potteries to the people of Scotland and international destination countries. I am keen to explore the inter-cultural relationships created as a result of the pottery industry and understand what impact and meaning that holds for Scotland and destination countries now.
